 Aleman Arrastio
Alicia Alemán Arrastio  combines her work as officer in the Development NGO ALBOAN with her doctoral studies at the University of Deusto. She holds a BA in Political Science and a graduate certification in Public International Law and International Relations from the University of the Basque Country. She also holds a Ms.C in Natural Resources and Conservation Sciences from the University of Idaho. She has worked both for governmental and non-governmental international organizations, particularly in resource-rich contexts. She is currently working on the development of a global advocacy network for the good governance of natural and mineral resources (GIAN-GNMR). Her doctoral dissertation studies the ways in which interventions in capacity development have influenced the generation of sustainable livelihoods in Andean countries in the last 20 years (1994-2014).
 Arellano Javier

Javier Arellano Yanguas is a researcher and professor at the Centre for Applied Ethics in the University of Deusto (Bilbao-Spain). He is currently director of the Centre. He holds a Ph.D in Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex, where he also got his Master´s in Governance and Development. He is also engineer in agronomics by the Politechnic University of Madrid, BA in Religion Sciences and Theology by the University of Duesto and Expert in International Economy and Cooperation by the University of the Basque Country (Hegoa).

 Barcari Olga Olga Barcari holds a BA in English Philology from the Free University of Moldovia and a MA in Euroculture from the University of Deusto. She is currently pursuing her doctoral studies within the Programme of International and Intercultural Studies at the same University. Her doctoral dissertation investigates the internationalization of higher education. To develop her studies, she has a research scholarship from the Basque Government. Her main areas of interest include academic mobility, internationalization of higher education and academic networks.
 Angela Bermudez

Ángela Bermúdez Vélez. Researcher in the Centre for Applied Ethics at the University of Deusto, in Bilbao. She is currently conducting research on education and pedagogic processes that contribute to build sustainable cultures of peace. Her main research project is “Critical Understanding of Violence Through History Education”. This international project investigates the ways in which history education resources and teachers represent different episodes of collective violence in their countries. Scientific production 

 Bernal Maria del Pilar María del Pilar Bernal Gómez, is a political scientist, with an emphasis on political theory. MA in Sociology, with a specialization in sociology of culture from the National University of Colombia. She has conducted social research about the phenomenon of forced displacement and the social discourses about territory in the Magdalena Medio, Colombia. She has also worked in the systematization of popular education and human rights training experiences, and has been involved in project development about pedagogy of peace, non-violence and alternative resolution of conflicts. During the last years, she worked as advisor to cooperation projects. She is currently a doctoral researcher and conducts her dissertation “Extractive Industries, social conflicts and building of sustainable territories in Colombia” under the supervision of researcher Javier Arellano-Yanguas.
 Galo Bilbao Alberdi Galo Bilbao Alberdi (Bilbao, 1963). holds a BA in Philosophy and Theology and a Ph.D in Theology. He is a lay person doing pastoral work in the Diocese of Bilbao. He is currently Diocesan Delegate for Evangelization and Catechism. Professor of Ethics at the University of Deusto, he teaches Civic and Professional Ethics at the Faculty of Engineering. He is also a member of the Diocesan Institute of Theology and Pastoral of Bilbao. He participated in several peace initiatives in the Basque Country, such as the organizations “Gesto por la Paz” and “Bakeaz” or the initiatives “Victims as educators” and “Glencree”.

 Susana Carro Ripalda


Susana Carro-Ripalda
is a researcher at the Centre for Applied Ethics, University of Deusto, funded by the Bizkaia Provincial Government and the European Commission. Susana has a PhD and an MSc in Social Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh (UK), a PgDip in Development Studies (Basque Country University) and an MA in Philosophy and Educational Sciences (Psychology) also from the Basque Country University. She has developed most of her academic career in the UK, as lecturer and researcher at the universities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Durham. Susana has lead research projects studying the debates and governance of GM crops in the Global South (Mexico, Brazil and India), funded by the John Templeton Foundation, and is currently investigating the ethical, social and cultural dimensions of agricultural biotechnology governance in the Basque Country.

 Mónica Elices

Mónica Elices Zabala is a civil engineer from the École Centrale de Nantes and technical industrial mechanic engineer from the University of Mondragon. Her professional career has always being linked to construction, aid and education for development. She is currently professor at the Deusto´s Engineering Faculty and a candidate in “Human Rights: Ethical, Social and Political Challenges” Ph.D programme. She collaborates with the Cantabria University´s Faculty of Civil Engineering. Her disseration deals with public participation in the design of quality public espaces.
 CEA_Gantxegi Irene Irene Gantxegi holds a BA in Philosophy from the University of Deusto. She also holds a MA in Ethics for Social Construction from the same university. She is currently a Ph.D candidate in the Programme on International and Intercultural Studies at the University of Deusto, where she is writing her dissertation “Emotional education through narratives about the Basque conflict: a critical understanding of political violence”. Her research investigates the process of emotional education of the citizenship through literature. She earned a research scholarship from the Basque Government since 2011. She is also collaborating as a research assistant in the international research project “Critical Understanding of Political Violence Through History Education”. Her areas of interest are peace studies, philosophy and literature and philosophy of education.

Javier Llorente Mingo
. is MA in Economics and Business Studies. Graduate studies in Aid and Humanitarian Assistance. In the CAE, he works in budgeting, project monitoring and general support for the development of activities.
 FCO Javier Martínez Javier Martínez Contreras (Ourense, 1969), holds a BA in Philosophy from the University of Deusto, a BA in Religious Sciences from the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca, and Ph.D in philosophy from the University of Deusto. He is professor of History of Philosophy (modern and contemporary) and Ethics at the University of Deusto since 2001. He was Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter at the Institut M.-D. Chenu –Berlín in 2001 and invited researcher at the Centro de Estudos Sociais at the University of Coimbra (2013). He holds a specialization in Human Rights from the University of the Basqeu Country (2010) and is invited professor at the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey (México) where he teaches Contemporary Political Thinking.

 Xabier Mauleon Xabier Etxeberria Mauleon,Ph.D in philosophy, he is emeritus professor at the University of Deusto, where he has been tenure professor of Ethics and Director of the Centre for Applied Ethics. He is also a visiting professor at several universities in Latin America where he also collaborates with indigenous organizations. His philosophical research focuses on the domains of fundamental ethics, professional ethics and social and political ethics (particularly about collective identities), as well as the ethical perspective of human rights. He is mostly engaged in reflection about the following human groups: victims of political violence, indigenous peoples and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Cecilia Martínez
Cecilia Martínez Arellano, is industrial engineer from the University of Zaragoza, she holds a MA in Ethics for Social Construction from the University of Deusto. She is senior evaluator of Euskalit. As part of her responsibilities as Vice-president of the Executive Council of the Community of Christian Life in Spain, she participates in different teams engaged with issues of migration and socio-political commitment. She has worked in businesses and Church organizations in several sectors and domains such as planning, quality systems and environment, management of the organisational culture and leadership of projects developed in networks. She combines her doctoral studies with her work at the University of Deusto in the area of mission and identity. Her doctoral dissertation studies the participatory processes in organizations to promote commitment and institutional coherence with ethic and social values.
Juan Ignacio Pagola  Juan I. Pagola Carteis a journalist, and holds a BA in Information Sciences from the University of Deusto and a Ph.D in Communication from the University of Deusto. Since 1995, he has worked as coordinator of student activities (sports, social, cultural and pastoral) at the San Sebastian Campus. He is a member of the communications department at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences since 2000 and has taught several courses in the area of communication. From 2005 to 2012 he served as director of the Master EITB-Deusto in Audiovisual, Business and Institutional Communications Management. He specializes in communications, the transmission of values through messages, communication for development and organizational communication.

 Angélica Padilla Angélica Padilla Méndez, holds a BA and MA in Psychology from the National University of Colombia, where she was born. She has experience in education for citizenship and human rights. She is currently developing her dissertation “Teacher Professional Development for the Teaching of the History of Recent Armed Conflict in Colombia: Challenges and Perspectives for Peace Education”. She is also a research assistant in the Colombian chapter of the international project “Critical Understanding of Political Violence through History Teaching”. Her areas of interest focus on peace education, reconstruction of the historical memory of political violence, and citizenship education.
 Javier Pérez Duarte Javier Pérez Duarte was born in Bilbao in 1952. He is Ph.D in Law, BA in Law and BA in Philosophy from the University of Deusto. Professor of Philosophy of Law and Civic and Professional Ethics at the Faculty of Law at the University of Deusto and of Ethics of Public Administrations at the Master of Ethics for Social Construction of the Centre for Applied Ethics at the same university. He coordinates the area of Philosophy of Law and Civic and Professional Ethics in the Department of Transnational Law at the Faculty of Law. Researcher in the domain of human rights and in the philosophical and ethical implications of democratic thought.

 Pedro Manuel Sasia Pedro Manuel Sasia Santos is BA in Chemistry and Ph.D in Macromolecular Chemistry by the University of the Basque Country. He is currently professor and researcher at the University of Deusto (Bilbao Campus), where he teaches Civic and Professional Ethics to undergraduate students in the Faculty of Engineering, Applied Ethics for Organizations and Business Ethics in the Master of Ethics for Social Construction and in the Master in Industrial Organization. He also teaches a module on the limits and challenges of microcredits in the Master of Microcredits at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and Ethical Finances in the Master on Social and Solidarity Economy at the University of the Basque Country.

 Izakun de la fuente Izaskun Sáez de la Fuente is BA in Political Sociology by the University of Deusto and Ph.D in Political Science and Sociology by the University of the Basque Country. She teaches in undergraduate program on Modern Languages and Management and in the Master of Ethics for Social Construction, offered in the Bilbao Campus. Specifically, she teaches the following subjects:
•Civic and Professional Ethics (Modern Languages and Management)
•Critical Options for Social Life (Human Education in Values Module)
•Contemporary Political Theories (Master of Ethics for Social Construction)

She is director of the University Master in Ethics for social construction at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at the University of Deusto.

 Diego Argumero

Diego Argumero Martínez is Political Scientist by the National University of Colombia. He holds a MA in Models and Research Areas in Social Sciences from the University of the Basque Country. He has experience in the areas of citizenship education and teacher professional development. He is currently a Ph.D candidate in the programme Human Rights: Ethical, Social and Political Challenges at the University of Deusto, where he is developing his doctoral dissertation. He is studying the way in which high school students negotiate the tensions and contradictions between normative narratives about democracy and the social narratives emerging from their experiences. To develop his research he holds a research scholarship from the BBVA. He also belongs to the research team “Critical Understanding of Political Violence Through History Education.”
 
 
Jon Ona

Jon Ona Sáenz holds a BA in Geography and History and a BA in Religious Sciences; a graduate diploma in Management of Cultural Resources; and a MA in Ethics for Social Construction. He has been professor in secondary education in several public and catholic centres, as well as in the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences in San Sebastian, where he has conducted research and teaching activities in the areas of History and Literature of Early Christianity and History of Theology. He is currently a professor in the faculties of Theology, Psychology and Education at the University of Deusto. His research focuses on the contribution of professional ethics towards justice, domain within which he is preparing his doctoral dissertation.
 
 Laura Belmonte

Laura Belmonte Romillo.
holds a degree in Executive Secretarial Studies from the University of Deusto. In the 1997-1998 period, she worked at the Institute of Leisure studies, focusing on planning and management of Congresses and Events. From 1998 to 2006, she worked as Executive Assistant for the International Relations Office, attending the needs of international students (before, during and after their stay). From 2006 to 2014 she worked as Assistant at Deusto University´s Language Institute ,where she managed and provided information about a considerable number of courses and official certifications (Cambridge, DELF-DALF, Goethe). She is currently a member of the Institute, where she works as Executive Assistant.
