The main pursuit of university Institutes is research. The research programme of the Human Rights Institute seeks to extend the analysis and understanding of the current challenges facing human rights by means of research projects and contracts. The aim of these research findings is to provide relevant innovations for social and legal sciences, which are useful for the political and social actors responsible for the compliance with human rights.
The widespread dissemination of research, and the transfer of knowledge generated by it, should contribute to promoting the consolidation of a human rights culture in the social and political contexts in which the Institute is framed at both local and international level.
RESEARCH TEAM
The "sociocultural and human rights challenges in a changing world" Research Team is responsible for developing the research programme of the Human Rights Institute.
In line with the Institute's philosophy, the Research Team is multidisciplinary and internationally-oriented. The Team consists of researchers from the Human Rights Institute, other researchers at the University of Deusto, research scholars, and grant holders or contract researchers within the Institute. In January 2012, the team was made up of 25 researchers (14 doctors and 10 PhD students) from various disciplines of social, legal, political and human sciences, with a majority of doctors and PhD students in Law, Sociology and International Relations.
