The San Sebastian campus is located on the Paseo of Mundaiz, on the banks of the River Urumea. It combines an avant-garde design and singular architecture. The area was built, planned and supervised by Miguel Oriol in 1963. This architectural collection includes an original and emblematic Chapel, two towers and several buildings.
The five-storey Father Arrupe Building was inaugurated in 1998, to respond effectively to the University's needs. In addition, the construction of the Matteo Ricci Technology Building, the new Library and the headquarters of the Basque Institute of Competitiveness-Orkestra provided this campus with facilities and equipment to meet the technological challenges of the new era.
In summer 2008, the construction of several buildings was started.Examples include the new building of Deusto Business School, which comprises a total of 1,950 square metres arranged over four floors. Deusto Business School was founded with the aim of becoming a reference point in Spain, and one of the top ten Business Schools in Europe for executive education worldwide. Innovation and social entrepreneurship are the main pillars of this new centre.
With regard to the Classroom Building, six floors will be built to house ten rooms and nine lecture rooms, as well as other study and work rooms and offices. The Building for Entrepreneurship will host a whole elite of innovative executives made up of former students and partner companies. It will consist of four floors with a total surface of 1,150 square metres, which will house a multipurpose room, rooms for business use, two areas for promoters and several general services.
The San Sebastian campus, located near the beautiful Cristina Enea Park, has large green areas, with an arboretum containing nearly 500 species from around the world. These include a sapling of the Taxodium or swamp cypress, and the araucaria from South America.There are trees of other species, but the "greenery" of the San Sebastian campus is based on bushes such as azaleas or camellias and bulbous plants like hyacinths or narcissuses, all of which are carefully looked after.
