Since its beginnings 36 years ago, the curriculum of the Basque Philology programme has constantly adapted to keep up with changing social and job needs. The new undergraduate degree complies with the Bologna guidelines and aims to achieve the Basque expert profiles demanded by companies and organisations.
The curriculum envisages a logical time frame for acquisition of competences:
The first and second years centre on communication competences in three languages: Basque, English and Spanish, focusing on basic knowledge and use.
After the second year of study, having acquired the bases, students learn about the different types of Basque and analysis methods for register in Basque language and literature.
After the third year of study, the programme focuses on subjects related to Basque linguistics and literature and professional practice.
In the fourth year, students continue to study the Basque language and literature in depth with special emphasis on jobs and how the language has developed over time. They begin to use the knowledge acquired in the previous years of study through internships in companies or organisations. Students also work on a project with a specialist tutor.
