The course methodology is based on the European Higher Education Area guidelines. The key aspects are autonomy and acquisition of the competences required for continuous learning.
The Master’s programme focuses on promoting a balanced combination of the theory underlying humanitarian action. The interdisciplinary approach covers different areas (geopolitics, peace and conflicts, critical geography, international law, humanitarian law, anthropology, public health, international project and organisations management, etc.). The entire content is geared to working in the field of humanitarian assistance (therefore the emphasis on case studies, simulation exercises and teamwork).

The NOHA Master’s programme has developed its own e-learning platform. The NOHA member universities taking part in the Master’s in International Humanitarian Action have a joint virtual campus system, the NOHA Blackboard.
